Ministry of Environment Wildlife and Tourism Overview of Activities

The Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism was established in recognition of the need to bring environmental issues under one roof for better coordination of policies, strategies and programs. The Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism exists to protect the environment conserve the country's renewable and natural resources and derive value out of environment for the benefit of Botswana. We commit ourselves to achieve these goals through team work and smart partnerships with the private sector and other stakeholders. Our vision is to make Botswana a world leader in the management of the environment for sustainable development. The MEWT overall goal is to develop and implement policies, strategies and the programmes to provide leadership and professional guidance on all matters pertaining to the conservation and management of the country's environment and its natural resources for sustainable development and tourism.
